If you’re a passionate rugby fan, or have a son who loves lining up on the rugby field on a Saturday arvo, chances are you already know the name Tom Beinke.
A former development officer for the Brumbies, Tom coached literally thousands of aspiring rugby players across the capital before becoming a real estate agent in early 2016.
And now, we’re delighted to announce he’s bringing his sales talent, exceptional network and outstanding relationship-building skills to the Hayman Partners team.
According to Tom, 28, his transition from nurturing the careers of young football players to real estate “actually made perfect sense”.
“My job [at the Brumbies] was basically to go out into the Canberra community and surrounding areas and build relationships with people – from schools and clubs to kids and their parents,” Tom says.
“And that’s basically what I do now in real estate. It’s about being able to influence and lead a conversation on both sides of a property sale. And my passion for Canberra always comes through in everything I do.”
Despite being born in Canberra and attending Marist College, Tom feels like he’s “from the bush” at heart. His pop’s family hails from Boorowa, while nan’s side is from Crookwell.
Little Tom Beinke learnt to talk early and was a “born salesman”.
“I’ve always been able to talk and connect with people whether they’re a baby all the way through to older people,” Tom says.
“I’ve always been able to find common ground with people and relate to them.
“And that underpins my approach to real estate – I’m not the kind of agent who wins a client, sells a house and then spits the client out at the other end.
“I’m trying to move away from the ‘huge volume’ game and just focus on providing outstanding service to my current clients. Instead of cold calling a lot of people and trying for bulk listings, I work to nurture current relationships.”
It’s working. Tom estimates his clients are 80 per cent referrals. And he said his move to Hayman Partners is about two things: innovation and work-life balance.
“[Partner] Chloe and I will start a young family in the next couple of years and I was impressed by Brett [Hayman’s] values when it comes to family and work-life balance,” Tom said.
“I felt a strong alignment to the agency’s ‘clients for life’ approach and innovation in the digital marketing space.”
