At Hayman Partners, we’ve had an incredibly busy few months. Winter is usually a slower season for us, but 2020 was one of our strongest winters in real estate to date. In August alone, we had 43 exchanges, 19.12 days on the market at auction, 2,345 auction attendees, with a staggering $36,003,300 total value of properties sold.
Of course, what we do is far more than numbers. What those figures don’t demonstrate is the relief and excitement of the sellers who feared a downturn in the market, the buyers who are thrilled to have upsized to accommodate growing families or working from home arrangements, and the wide-felt sense of reassurance that’s echoing through the community.
Buyers are making the most of low-interest rates, stamp duty exemptions and incentives, while sellers are seeing prices that not only meet, but often far exceed their expectations.
In fact, the Canberra property market is so strong that it’s common for properties to sell before auction day. When a home does make it to auction, we’ve been seeing some record-breaking prices. It all goes to show that Canberra isn’t slowing down.
With the Floriade installations that popped up all over the city, and the distinct change of weather, we’re all acutely aware of the arrival of spring and summer. Just as we’re seeing a change in the season, a strong market shows that many Canberrans are experiencing a distinct period of transitions. While change isn’t easy, it’s a necessary and vital part of life. At Hayman Partners, we’re immensely honoured to be able to support our community and provide a sense of hope and relief to our clients.
Now, as we sprint towards the end of the year, we look forward to what will undoubtedly be a summer to remember, both in the market and in our strong, resilient community.
